asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the exact percentage of profit he is allowing the pharmaceutical companies by reducing the National Health Service drugs bill by £25 million.

The profit allowed to the pharmaceutical industry in supplying medicines to the NHS is currently being reviewed following the 10th report from the Committee of Public Accounts for the Session 1982–83. For reasons explained to the Committee, target profit rates are not disclosed.
