§ The Solicitor-GeneralPrecise statistics as to the length of time which elapses between a death and the opening of an inquest in Northern Ireland are not available. A survey of 152 inquests held in the period 1 October 1982 to 31 December 1982 indicated that the average interval between the date of death and the date of inquest was seven months. This survey did not distinguish between the different types of death involved.
