HC Deb 21 July 1953 vol 518 c36W
Mr. Gower

asked the Minister of Pensions if he will reconsider the case of Mr. Vrettos, 20, Southey Street, Barry Dock, who was granted a disability pension on 23rd November last arising from injuries sustained during Army service in July, 1947; and if he will arrange for Mr. Vrettos to receive arrears of pension from the date when his injuries were sustained, for reasons stated in correspondence from the hon. Member for Barry.

Mr. Amory

As I told the hon. Member in a letter of 17th June, I can find no exceptional grounds on which I should be justified in awarding Mr. Vrettos arrears of pension; he made no approach to my Department until November, 1952, and it seems clear that he was not prevented by reasons outside his control from making an earlier claim.
