§ Mr. Haleasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has now completed his study of the United Nations specialised agencies pilot schemes for the prevention of malaria; how many such schemes are now in operation in the British Colonial Territories; and what extensions are contemplated.
34W
§ Mr. LytteltonI am not sure to what "pilot schemes" the hon. Member refers, but projects for the control of malaria are being undertaken by colonial Governments with the assistance of the World Health Organisation and the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund in a number of territories, including Grenada, St. Lucia, Trinidad, Jamaica, Bahamas, Brunei, North Borneo and Sarawak.
An important pilot project will also be begun this year in Northern Nigeria.
