HC Deb 21 July 1953 vol 46 c232W
Mr. Brandon-Bravo

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the estimated number of long-term vacant dwellings controlled by local authority housing departments.

Sir George Young

The number of local authority-owned dwellings in England vacant for more than a year at 1 April 1982 is estimated as 20,000 on the basis of the authorities' housing investment return. Data for 1 April 1983 are in course of being collected, but will not be available until late October.
