§ 86. Mr. Peter Freemanasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he will arrange for a public inquiry, in conjunction with local authorities and the interested bodies, into the problem of the increasing quantity of litter being left in public places, on the roads, in parks and open spaces, especially over the week-end and at holiday times.
§ Mr. MarplesMy right hon. Friend is ready to do anything likely to reduce the litter in public places, but he does not think that any practical advantage would be gained by a public inquiry. Arrangements already exist for consultation with the local authority associations and other interests concerned.
