§ Mr. Wheatleyasked the Minister of Transport if he has considered the resolution and accompanying letter, dated 6th July, 1953, from the Midlothian County Council on the subject of the Forth Road Bridge; what reply he has made thereto: and what action he proposes thereon.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydYes. The County Council have been told that, while I well understand their desire for this bridge, I gave due weight to all the considerations which they have advanced before I made the decision which I conveyed to the Scottish deputation in Edinburgh on the 19th June. This was that I could not authorise the construction of this bridge in the near future.
