asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what plans he has made to meet the situation created by the decision of the United States Congress to end the contract authority for mutual security deliveries in 1955, and the economic and military deliveries in succeeding years.

I set out the position in the speech I made in the House on 7th May. I indicated the nature of the joint effort which must be made by the Government and the country last night. I shall, no doubt, take future opportunities to reinforce and elaborate the theme already deployed.
