asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will make a statement on the present position in Egypt; and, with the view of ending the present deadlock, if he will take steps to place the Suez Canal under international control of the United Nations.

As regards the first part of the Question, I have nothing to add to my answer to the hon. Member for Eastbourne (Mr. C. S. Taylor) on 30th June. The answer to the second part of the Question is "No."
