§ 88. Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Minister of Works if he is aware that the number of cinema theatres in the City of Aberdeen is insufficient; that this is especially so in summer when the city is crowded with visitors; that the partially built cinema in Ship Row, Aberdeen, of which he has been informed, has remained unfinished for 13 years and is still unfinished; and if he will now grant a licence to enable it to be completed.
§ Sir D. EcclesBecause of the need for conserving building resources for more essential work, it is not the present policy of the Government to licence this type of work. I do, however, appreciate the desirability of completing this partly built cinema and when some relaxation is possible I will consider the granting of a licence.
