HC Deb 13 July 1953 vol 517 cc130-1W
Mr. Mitchison

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer in what cases, and under what statutory provisions, he has imposed limits on the amounts recoverable by persons performing public duties in respect of financial loss or of travelling or subsistence expenses incurred by them; and what are the limits in each case.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I assume that the hon. Member is referring to compensation for loss of remunerative time, and travelling and subsistence expenses for members of the public who serve in an unpaid capacity as members of Government committees, Royal Commissions and similar bodies. The rules governing these matters are somewhat lengthy and I am sending the hon. Member a copy of them. They are not subject to any statutory provision.
