HC Deb 09 July 1953 vol 517 c106W
70. Mr. Janner

asked the Minister of Education how many classes there are in the primary schools of Leicester consisting of 45 or more pupils per class; and how many classes are held in the corridors of primary schools in Leicester, and how many in assembly halls.

Miss Horsbrugh

I am informed that last April 99 out of 856 primary school classes in Leicester had 45 or more pupils on roll; and that, while no classes were being held in corridors, there were 20 in assembly halls.
