HC Deb 06 July 1953 vol 517 cc64-5W
Mr. P. Williams

asked the Minister of Supply how far deliveries of imported steel plate are to be subtracted from the allocations of home-produced plate.

Mr. Sandys

Supplies of steel plate imported centrally by the British Iron and Steel Federation are used to supplement home production and are distributed within the voluntary steel plate distribution scheme which I announced on 20th April. Steel plate imports arranged by an individual consumer are outside this scheme and do not in any way affect the supplies he obtains from the home steel industry.
