HC Deb 06 July 1953 vol 517 c62W
88. Mr. Hubbard

asked the Minister of Transport if he will take steps to restart the Burntisland and Granton ferry service to meet the immediate need for heavy road transport and relieve congestion at the Queensferry Passage; or what alternative solution he has in mind.

Mr. Braithwaite

Following my right hon. Friend's statement in Edinburgh recently that the Forth Bridge scheme could not be authorised in the near future, the British Transport Commission have been asked to prepare final estimates for the improvement of the Queensferry. M right hon. Friend has no powers in the matter of restarting the Burntisland and Granton Ferry.
