HC Deb 06 July 1953 vol 517 cc58-9W
70. Sir W. Smithers

asked the Minister of Food what steps he will take against those butchers who have refused to operate the new meat rationing scheme.

Major Lloyd George

I prefer at the moment to make no comment.

72. Mr. McGovern

asked the Minister of Food if he has considered the proposals submitted by the Scottish Federation of Meat Traders as alternatives to the new proposals of his Department for 5th July, in view of the fact that meat rationing has completely broken down; and if he will accept the proposals of the federation.

73. Miss Herbison

asked the Minister of Food what action he proposes to take on the representations made to him by the Scottish Meat Traders Association.

Major Lloyd George

Meat rationing is still necessary, and while it remains I must share out fairly the meat we have. The proposals referred to do not offer a workable alternative.
