§ Mr. Callaghanasked the Minister of Health if, in view of the recruitment restrictions placed upon local hospitals during the investigation of the Redundancy Commission, he will hasten its work, and state when the task will be finished.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodI do not know of any redundancy commission. I have, however, recently issued to hospital authorities a memorandum of guidance on economy in staffing. I am sending the hon. Member a copy, and he will see that it does not put a ban on recruitment in hospitals which need more staff to maintain services essential to the care of the patients.
