82Was an experiment in July, 1951. Under the Traffic Signs Regulations the authority of my right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport should have been sought for the continuation of this experiment after six months, but the need for so doing was unfortunately overlooked and the experiment continued until the coming into force of the permanent regulations this month. The Commissioner of Police very much regrets this oversight and is taking steps to prevent the recurrence of a similar error.
