HC Deb 20 January 1953 vol 510 c1W
15. Mr. Roy Jenkins

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the percentage of the value of total sterling area imports from the non-sterling world during 1952, or the latest convenient year, represented by our gold and dollar reserves at the latest convenient date.

Mr. R. A. Butler

The gold and dollar reserves at 30th June, 1952, represented about 13 per cent. of the estimated value of imports into the sterling area from the non-sterling world in the 12 months to that date.
