HC Deb 20 January 1953 vol 510 cc13-4W
82. Mr. Mayhew

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware of the dissatisfaction of residents of the borough of Woolwich at the continued failure of his Department to convert the rubbish dump on War Office land on Woolwich Common into a recreation ground, thereby removing an objectionable eyesore; and if he will give instructions for this to be done at once.

Mr. J. R. H. Hutchison

The War Office is now taking up with the local authority the possibility of using the site, if suitable terms can be agreed, as a recreation ground for both the military and civilian population of Woolwich.
