HC Deb 20 January 1953 vol 510 c15W
85. Mr. Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for War under what Section of the Army Act, Colonel G. O. Thompson was charged and tried by court-martial for disobeying an Army Council Instruction; when this court-martial took place; and what was the result.

Mr. J. R. H. Hutchison

The mistake in this case was to act in anticipation of the Army Council Instruction rather than to fail to carry it out. No court-martial has taken place, nor is one contemplated.
