HC Deb 26 February 1953 vol 511 c242W
Mr. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will introduce legislation to make adequate pension provision for families of firemen killed on duty, and to make such provision retrospective.

Mr. J. Stuart

There is already provision for the payment of special pensions or allowances to the dependants of both whole-time and part-time firemen who are killed on duty. In the case of part-time firemen the arrangements were revised last December, but I regret that there is no power to give the revised arrangements retrospective effect.
