HC Deb 26 February 1953 vol 511 c231W
72. Mr. T. Reid

asked the Minister of Education if she will provide free transport for children from Penhill Estate to Pinehurst School, Swindon, in view of the distances involved and the fact that many of the children are mere infants.

Miss Horsbrugh

No. I understand that no child travelling on foot from the Penhill Estate has to walk as much as one mile to reach Pinehurst School.

74. Mr. Bartley

asked the Minister of Education when she will be able to let the hon. Member for Chester-le-Street have a reply to his letter of 2nd January, 1953, in regard to a proposal submitted to her Department in May, 1952, about the transport of pupils.

Miss Horsbrugh

The hon. Member will now have had a letter from my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Secretary explaining the position.
