HC Deb 24 February 1953 vol 511 c207W
78. Mr. Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what decision he has made in his review of the date on which the recently announced policy of increased prices for school meals is to be implemented.

Mr. J. Stuart

The introduction of the increase cannot be postponed beyond 1st March, but I have made it clear that where an education authority are unable to bring into full operation by that date a new or amended scheme of partial remission, they may during March give meals at the existing charge to any child whose parents have claimed remission under the scheme, pending the settlement of the claim.
