HC Deb 24 February 1953 vol 511 cc199-200W
12. Mr. F. Maclean

asked the Secretary of State for War on what grounds the proprietor of the Red Cross Inn, Skerton, Lancaster, was required by his Department to obliterate the Red Cross which has been the sign of the inn for at least 60 years.

Mr. Head

They were not asked to obliterate the Red Cross sign but I understand that the use of the words "Red Cross" for trade purposes constitutes an infringement of the Geneva Convention Act, 1911.
