§ 2. Mr. Haleasked the Minister of Pensions whether he is aware of the considerable increase in running costs of the A.C. invalid carriage for disabled persons, caused by the compulsory fitting of the new carburettor; and what steps he proposes to take to remove the hardship to the users of this carriage, caused by this compulsory fitting.
Mr. AmoryI am aware of some instances in which the fitting of the new type of carburettor has resulted in increased petrol consumption. In these cases steps have been taken, in consultation with the manufacturers, to make certain slight modifications which should reduce the petrol consumption and improve the general performance of the machines. I am watching the position closely.
