HC Deb 23 February 1953 vol 511 c192W
Mr. Bossom

asked the Minister of Agriculture what steps are being taken to prevent the repetition this year of the deficit that has occurred in connection with the agricultural machinery operations of the county agricultural executive committees.

Sir T. Dugdale

The financial results of the operation of the Agricultural Machinery Service by county agricultural executive committees are kept under close review and every effort is made to reduce expenditure and to secure more economical working. As a result it is expected that the trading deficit in the current financial year will be little more than half that in 1951–52 and that the position will be still further improved in 1953–54.
