66. Mr. Bishop

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is aware that Class Z reservists are debarred from enrolment in the Metropolitan Special Constabulary; and if, in view of the urgent need for more special constables, he will consider the modification of this rule.

Under arrangements brought into effect last October Z reservists are eligible to become Special Constables unless they are likely to be recalled to Her Majesty's Forces in the event of war, and I should not feel justified in proposing any further modification in these arrangements.
