asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the number and value of loans made in Scotland under Section 4 of the Distribution of Industry Act, 1946, in the years 1950, 1951 and 1952.

The loans made to companies operating in Scotland were as follows:—

Three of the companies which had received loans in 1950 received further advances in 1951, and two of the companies which received loans in 1951 received further advances in 1952. The total number of companies involved in the three years was eight.
