HC Deb 18 February 1953 vol 511 c136W
71. Squadron Leader Cooper

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General how many applications for telephones remain outstanding for the Ilford area to the latest convenient date; and what steps are being taken to minimise delays.

Mr. Gammans

About 4,000 applications were outstanding in the Borough on 31st December, 1952. New plant is needed to meet these applications. The borough is served by three exchanges and the capacity of all three is being increased. At Seven Kings the new equipment will, I hope, be ready about the middle of this year. New cables are also being laid.
