Mr. Deedesasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether, in the light of recent events on the northeast coast, he will circularise local authorities advising them to review more strictly current excavations of shingle from the region of the foreshore in low-lying parts of the Kent and Sussex coast.
§ Mr. MarplesA memorandum was issued to local authorities in 1950 drawing their attention to their responsibilities under Section 18 of the Coast Protection Act, 1949, and my right hon. Friend does not think a further reminder is needed.
