HC Deb 17 February 1953 vol 511 cc118-9W
89. Mr. H. White

asked the Minister of Labour how many persons have become redundant in his Department by the closing of the Dronfield employment exchange; what is the amount saved by this action, and the number put to inconvenience and expense by having to travel to other employment exchanges; and why an agency service was not provided with the other Departments.

Mr. Watkinson

There has been a saving of three staff with annual salaries amounting to about £1,400, and a further saving of £208 in rent of premises. No complaints of inconvenience or expense have been received from the small number of persons affected. The volume of work in Dronfield no longer justifies the provision of any local facilities.
