HC Deb 17 February 1953 vol 511 c106W
67. Mr. Peter Freeman

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has yet given permission for raising £50,000 for the Bristol Channel ferry project; and if he will give details of the project proposed.

Mr. R. A. Butler

The raising or borrowing of money up to a sum not exceeding £50,000 within a period of twelve months does not require Treasury consent under the Control of Borrowing Order, 1947. It would be contrary to precedent and not in the public interest to give details of an application to the Capital Issues Committee.
