HC Deb 12 February 1953 vol 511 c52W
Mr. Collick

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is aware of the scarcity of one shilling coins in Birkenhead, and the difficulty occasioned thereby to people who need such coins for slot meters; and if he will instruct the Mint to take appropriate action to effect a remedy.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

If the banks cannot meet local demands, they will, as usual, apply to their head offices, to whom the Mint recently issued supplies.
