HC Deb 12 February 1953 vol 511 c54W
63. Mr. G. Williams

asked the Minister of Agriculture what plans he has for area clearance schemes for rabbits.

Sir T. Dugdale

County branches of the National Farmers' Union and Country Landowners' Association have been urged to collaborate with county agricultural executive committees in organising schemes for clearing rabbits from suitable areas through concerted action by farmers and landowners. Some 400 schemes have been brought into operation during the past two years.

70. Mr. Kenyon

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he will take the necessary steps to remove rabbits from the provisions of the game laws.

Sir T. Dugdale

Amending legislation on the lines suggested is not likely to result in any significant increase in the number of rabbits destroyed, but the proposal will be kept in mind for consideration with any future legislation dealing with rabbits.
