§ 87. Sir H. Williamsasked the Minister of Health the extent of the error in the figures for population as estimated for the middle of 1951 on the basis of the 1931 Census, as compared with the figures based upon the Census of April, 1951.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodPopulation estimates are prepared in the light of all the relevant information available at the time of their preparation. The Census, 1951 (England and Wales), Preliminary Report showed that the total population enumerated on 8th April was 76,000 less than the estimate for that date. There was no estimate of the population at mid-1951 based on the 1931 Census.
