HC Deb 12 February 1953 vol 511 c50W
35. Mr. Nabarro

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps he is taking to provide the financial incentives for installation of domestic solid-fuel burning appliances of high thermal efficiency in accordance with Recommendation No. 9 and paragraph 150 of the Report of the Ridley Committee on National Policy for the use of Fuel and Power Resources.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

Only those parts of Recommendation 9 which relate to credit policy and tax liability are matters primarily for my right hon. Friend. So far as the former is concerned, my right hon. Friend is not at present convinced that its merits outweigh its disadvantages. As regards the latter, my hon. Friend will not expect me to anticipate my right hon Friend's Budget statement.
