HC Deb 11 February 1953 vol 511 c29W
6. Mr. H. Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs his intentions about the maintenance and possible extension of the system of superintending trade consuls in the United States of America.

Mr. Nutting

It has been decided to dispense with the four Superintending Trade Consuls in the United States of America as their posts become vacant. Experience has shown that their duties can now be more effectively performed through the normal machinery of Her Majesty's Consulates under the direct control of the Commercial Department of Her Majesty's Embassy at Washington.
