asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many men and women were enrolled in the Civil Defence during 1952.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

In Great Britain during 1952, 30,709 men and 55,703 women, a total of 86,412, joined the Civil Defence Corps, Auxiliary Fire Service and the National Hospital Service Reserve. They were distributed as follows:

(i) ENGLAND AND WALES
