HC Deb 10 February 1953 vol 511 cc27-8W
Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Food what the sweet ration was on the last day of sweet rationing; and the details of the price controls in operation on that day.

Major Lloyd George

The last sweets ration was 6 oz. per week. Price control applied to many thousands of different items which were classified by the Price Control Committees of the War-time Associations to sell at various prices between 1s. 8d. and 6s. per lb. Confectionery made wholly from ingredients not subject to allocation and imported confectionery were not price controlled.
