HC Deb 09 February 1953 vol 511 c3W
Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Food (1) if he is aware that, from 3rd November, 1951, until 27th December, 1952, approximately 6,630,000 rations of cheese were not taken up; what was the reason for this short-fall in take-up: and what action he has taken, and intends to take, to enable the public to take up their full cheese ration;

(2) if he is aware that from 3rd November, 1951, until 27th December, 1952, approximately 15,855.000 rations of butter were not taken up; what was the reason for this short-fall in the take-up; and what action he has taken, and intends to take, to enable the public to take up their full butter ration.

Major Lloyd George

I cannot follow the hon. Member's calculations. During 1952 deliveries to the wholesale trade amounted to 98 per cent. in the case of butter and 99 per cent. in the case of cheese of the full entitlement.
