HC Deb 04 February 1953 vol 510 cc204-5W
65. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General if he will give an estimate of the cost, by mile or otherwise, of relaying or linking up a television service from the Kirk o'Shotts television station with other places in Scotland.

Mr. Gammans

The cost of serving places in Scotland at present outside the range of television will naturally vary, but in the case of Aberdeen, I am informed that a television station, together with a programme link from Kirk o'Shotts, would cost about £60,000, even on a temporary and makeshift basis. The cost of a permanent station would be very much greater.
