§ 56. Mr. Sorensenasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies why Chief Werekam Da Na is compelled by the Togoland Government to pay £200 annually to Na Yizi, of Manipreesi, in the Gold Coast northern territories and a further £200 to the Paramount Chief in the northern territories of French Togoland; and the reason for the destooling of Alechu in the Gold Coast northern territories.
§ Mr. LytteltonThe hon. Member has been misinformed. The Woricamdana does not make any payment either to the Nayiri or to any Chief in French Togo-land. Alechu of Balai was never appointed to the traditional office which he claimed and so has not been destooled.
