§ 83. Mr. Hamiltonasked the Minister of Transport why the United Kingdom refused an invitation to attend the International Transport Conference begun in Pans on 29th January.
213W
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydThis was a conference of Ministers of Transport convened by the French Minister of Transport and was concerned mainly with matters which were of direct interest only to a few Continental countries. I regret that owing to pressure of public business I was unable to accept the courteous invitation of the French Minister of Transport.
I may add that Her Majesty's Government are keenly interested in the general question of European inland transport and have agreed to take part in a conference on this subject to be held in March under the auspices of the Organisation for European Economic Co-operation.
