HC Deb 04 February 1953 vol 510 cc202-3W
Mr. D. Jones

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is aware that a commission in the British Guiana police force has been refused to Mr. Cecil Miller, an ex-flight lieutenant, Royal Air Force, after 17 years' police service, in spite of a unanimous resolution of the Finance Committee of the British Guiana Legislative Council; whether he is aware of the public anger in the territory at what is considered to be racial discrimination; and if he will take steps to have this decision reversed.

Mr. Lyttelton

I am making inquiries of the Governor and will write to the hon. Member as soon as I have his reply.
