Mr. Awberyasked the Assistant Postmaster-General if he has considered the report, a copy of which has been sent to him, concerning the telephone communications between Bristol and its port of Avonmouth; and what steps he proposes to take to accelerate the change over of the Avonmouth exchange from manual to automatic before 1955.
§ Mr. GammansI am considering the report which raises a number of technical matters, and I shall be writing to the hon. Member about it as soon as I can.
As regards the change-over of the Avonmouth exchange to automatic working I cannot add anything to the answer which I gave to the hon. Member on 3rd December, 1952.
