HC Deb 03 February 1953 vol 510 cc181-2W
18. Mr. Beswick

asked the Minister of Labour how many individuals have been registered with his local offices within the Committee on Chemical Engineering Research.

Mr. Molson

The Advisory Council for Scientific and Industrial Research has considered the Committee's Report and agreed that a central research organisation is needed. Representative industrial bodies have been consulted and are now making a more detailed survey of the information available in industry and the resources in industry for further research. Until this survey is completed it will not be known whether industry will set up its own research association or whether some other means of meeting the requirement for research in this field will have to be found.
