HC Deb 02 February 1953 vol 510 cc178-9W
Mr. Ede

asked the Minister of Education the names of the five proposed schools for which it is possible that grants for displaced pupils might be claimed if eligibility for grant be extended to schools the accounts for which have not been closed.

Miss Horsbrugh

The right hon. Member will appreciate that precise information on the point could only be prepared after full local inquiries. I have been informed, however, by the Catholic Education Council in a letter dated 30th January that the following schools are likely to be concernedSt. Peter's R.C. Primary School, Baguley, Wythenshawe. St. Peters R.C. Primary School, Newall Green, Wythenshawe. Christ the King R.C. Primary School, Broad Green, Liverpool. St. Anthony de Padua R.C. Primary School, Mossley Hill, Liverpool. St. Christopher's R.C. Primary School, Speke, Liverpool. Christ the King R.C. Primary School, Leicester.

The Catholic Education Council also state in the same letter that they cannot guarantee that any other school may not subsequently come to light as qualifying for grant under Clause 1 of the Education (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill as it has now been amended by the Committee, but that they do not know of any such schools at present.
