HC Deb 02 February 1953 vol 510 cc167-8W
Mr. Nabarro

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he will state the amounts of capital investment respectively in the nationalised coal, gas and electricity industries during the year 1952, excluding the North of Scotland Hydro-electric Board.

Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd

Accurate figures cannot yet be given for 1952, but it is estimated that total capital expenditure by the National Coal Board was approximately £45 million (of which about £40 million related to collieries), by the area gas boards £50 million, and by the British Electricity Authority and area boards £150 million.
