§ Mr. Callaghanasked the Assistant Postmaster-General what reply he has given to the letter from the Air League of the British Empire asking that consultations will take place with the other interests concerned before any decision is taken to alter the present system of very high frequency amplitude modulated equipment, in view of the concern that is felt that a change in the system will prevent ship to aircraft communication.
§ Mr. GammansI have advised theAir League of the British Empire that we have decided to reopen discussions with certain other countries on the question of frequency modulation for the V.H.F. maritime international radio services. I have added that the effect of introducing frequency modulation on the possibility of providing direct communication between ships and aircraft will certainly not be overlooked.
