HC Deb 18 December 1953 vol 522 c129W
Mr. Kenyon

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department which local authority instituted proceedings against six men for poaching at the Grindleton, West Riding, magistrate's court, when fines and penalties totalling £139 12s. were imposed; and under what authority this prosecution was taken.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

I understand that proceedings were instituted by the West Riding of Yorkshire County Council under Section 4 of the Game Licences Act, 1860, in the exercise of powers conferred by Section 6 of the Finance Act, 1908, and the Order in Council of 19th October, 1908 (S.R. & O. 1908. No. 844).
